Javier Zamora is a Pipil Salvadoran poet, memoirist, and activist, and the New York Times bestselling author of Solito: A Memoir (2022). His work draws deeply from his experience migrating alone from El Salvador to the United States at age nine, exploring themes of home, identity, and belonging.
Zamora is also the author of the poetry collections Nine Immigrant Years (2011) and Unaccompanied (2017). His writing has earned wide acclaim, including a 2024 Whiting Fellowship and the 2022 L.A. Times–Christopher Isherwood Prize.
He has held fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Poetry Foundation (Ruth Lilly Fellowship), Stanford University (Stegner Fellowship), and the Harvard Radcliffe Institute, among others. Zamora’s work continues to amplify immigrant voices and reimagine the American narrative through poetry and personal storytelling.
